How many watts for a 250 seat church? About 640 watts per loudspeaker, or 1,900 watts across three boxes, for a blended service at 88 dBA with 12 dB of headroom and a 62 foot throw.
How far apart should ceiling speakers be? At a 10 foot ceiling, a 90 degree speaker covers 12 feet at seated ear height, so 8.5 feet apart for speech. Measure to ear height, never the floor.
How many lumens for a church projector? A 12 foot wide screen under normal service lighting needs about 2,600 lumens. Lumens alone means nothing: it is screen area times foot-lamberts divided by gain.
Which wireless frequencies are legal? In the US, 470 to 608 MHz is the working band. 617 to 652 and 663 to 698 MHz are illegal to operate, and secondhand gear tuned there is worthless.
What upload speed does a livestream need? A 1080p30 stream runs about 4,700 kbps, so roughly 10 Mbps of measured upload. Measure it wired, at service time, not on the bill.
How many assistive listening receivers? A 250 seat church needs 10 under the 2010 ADA table, of which 3 must be hearing-aid compatible. Houses of worship are exempt, but most meet it anyway.

Amplifier power comes from target level, loudspeaker sensitivity, throw distance and peak headroom. Ceiling spacing comes from coverage cone geometry measured to ear height. Real rooms vary, so use them to size equipment and budget, then confirm with a measurement before a permanent installation.

Do we need a professional, or can a volunteer do this?

A volunteer can specify and run a system in most rooms up to a few hundred seats, which is who this site is written for. Three things always need a professional: anything flown overhead needs a structural engineer or certified rigger, all electrical work needs a licensed electrician, and any room above roughly 500 seats needs an integrator who can produce a coverage prediction for your actual drawings.
